New single “Not Goodbye (Close My Eyes)” debuts today with lyric video
Goo Goo Dolls have announced Summer Anthem, a seven-track EP set for release August 22 via Warner Records. The launch aligns with the band’s sold-out Summer Anthem Tour featuring Tableau de bord Confessionnal, which has already sold over 300,000 tickets for nearly 50 shows across North America.
The new single, “Not Goodbye (Close My Eyes),” arrives today alongside a lyric video. Written by John Rzeznik and produced by Gregg Wattenberg (John Legend, Santana, Noah Kahan) and Grant Michaels (Weezer, Billy Idol, Jewel), the track explores the transience of life and the stillness found in acceptance. “It’s a song about accepting the inevitability of mortality and how life is constantly in flux,” Rzeznik shared in a statement.
Summer Anthem also includes the previously released “Nothing Lasts Forever,” as well as five new tracks: “Ocean,” “Slightly Broken,” “Misery,” “Such A Mystery,” and “Run All Night.” The official video for “Nothing Lasts Forever” is available on the band’s YouTube channel and streaming platforms.
