The Wonder Years Live in Atlanta

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of “The Greatest Generation” album, The Wonder Years take on 33 different cities over the course of 2 months. On stop number seven, The Wonder Years, along with special guests Anxious and Sweet Pill, stopped by The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA, on September 17th. The Sunday night was one to remember as all three bands put on a spectacular show.

Taking the stage first was Sweet Pill, whose strong melodic sounds and mystical yet powerful voice roared across the crowd. Lead singer Zayna Youssef definitely knew how to engage with the crowd, having everyone dancing along, matching energies simultaneously. Crowd favorites included ‘Cut’ and ‘Dog Song,’ both from Sweet Pill’s 2022 album “Where the Heart Is.”

Next up was Connecticut native Anxious, who really brought the heat. The guitar-heavy emo band definitely had people going, creating a massive pit in the middle almost before they even took the stage. When ‘Call From You’ began, you could barely hear Anxious over the screaming fans, belting out every word and dancing along with the riffs.

Finally, The Wonder Years came on stage. Starting the night with ‘There, There’ really set the tone as the band began to play “The Greatest Generation” front to back, not missing a beat. The crowd took in every song, shouting back every lyric word for word. Once the album was over, The Wonder Years thanked those who supported them throughout the years along with their opening bands. They also revealed a surprise: they were playing a whole other set after a 10-minute break. This caused an uproar, and no one moved the entire 10 minutes, fearful of losing their spot. The encore set included hits such as “I Don’t Like Who I Was Then,” new single “GODDAMNITALL” and, of course, “Came Out Swinging.”

The 10th Anniversary of “The Greatest Generation” Tour is not one to miss. From beginning to finish, every band delivered greatness to the ears of its listeners, and every single person left happier than before, already relishing the memories of the night.
