Opeth’s “PALE COMMUNION” Reslated for August Release

It looks like Opeth’s highly anticipated eleventh studio album “PALE COMMUNION” is just a little TOO pale for the band’s liking.

Officially reslated for release on August 26th, this pushes “PALE COMMUNION” back a full two months from its original goal of a June drop.

Band frontrunner Mikael Åkerfeldt stated that the album just wouldn’t have made the grade in time for a June release.  Åkerfeldt commented: “Many of you have heard the rumours already and we can now confirm that the release of ‘Pale Communion’ has indeed been pushed back to late August […] Several circumstances prevented the band from delivering essential tools to Roadrunner in time which are needed to set up the album release properly and release schedule conflicts made us mutually decide on August instead of June.”

We can only imagine Åkerfeldt would want everything to be perfect in time for the release as this is not only a musical brainchild but also his own production.  Yes indeed, “PALE COMMUNION” can not only boast the fact that it has been mixed by Steven Wilson (frontman and guitarist of Porcupine Tree) but also under its belt of credentials is that it was produced by the band’s very own Åkerfeldt.

Although all of our hearts break when an album gets pushed back I think everyone can agree that two months of additional wait time is definitely better than a hastily rushed release of a premature album. (I certainly know just seeing the words “hastily rushed” and “premature” together in a sentence is disappointing enough on its own.  Am I right, ladies?)

“PALE COMMUNION” will be heralded by the lead single, “Cusp of Eternity” and will become available for pre-order starting Tuesday, June 3RD. Pre-orders for “PALE COMMUNION” made via the iTunes Store will receive an instant download of “Cusp of Eternity” as well as the second album track to be released on July 15TH.  Multiple configurations will also be available via both the Roadrunner Records Webstore and O Merch.
