Proceeds to Benefit Neil Peart Pavilion and Cedars-Sinai in Peart’s Memory

Rush frontman Geddy Lee has released a Special Charity Edition of his Tech 21 MP40 Signature SansAmp pedal, available exclusively through Reverb. Limited to 200 autographed units, the release supports two causes tied to the legacy of late drummer and bandmate Neil Peart: the Neil Peart Pavilion at Lakeside Park and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

This rare collector’s edition adds a philanthropic dimension to an already iconic piece of gear, offering fans a way to honor Peart’s memory while owning a piece of Rush history.

A Tribute Years in the Making

Neil Peart’s influence on rock drumming is undisputed. As the lyrical mind and rhythmic backbone of Rush, Peart helped shape the band’s signature sound across four decades. Following his passing in 2020 from glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive brain cancer, tributes emerged across Canada and beyond.

One of the most meaningful was local. St. Catharines, Ontario—Peart’s hometown—renamed its newly rebuilt pavilion at Lakeside Park in his honor. The park held special significance for Peart, who memorialized it in Rush’s 1975 song Lakeside Park.

The site has since become a point of pilgrimage for fans. A more ambitious public art installation is now in development at the park. It will feature bronze sculptures of Peart in both youth and adulthood, connected by interpretive panels that tell the story of his life and legacy. Fundraising for the project remains active, and proceeds from this special MP40 edition will help bring it to completion.

Cedars-Sinai: Extending Time Through Care

In addition to honoring Peart’s roots, the MP40 Charity Edition also supports Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. This is where Peart received treatment after his diagnosis. Doctors at Cedars-Sinai were instrumental in extending his prognosis beyond initial expectations.

According to those close to him, the center’s care gave Peart valuable time, time he used privately with family before his passing. Geddy Lee has repeatedly acknowledged the importance of that support, making the hospital a natural choice for this charitable partnership.

About the Tech 21 MP40 Signature SansAmp

Originally released in 2021, the MP40 was created to mark the 40th anniversary of Moving Pictures—Rush’s landmark album and one of their most commercially successful. That record, which featured songs like “Tom Sawyer” and “Limelight,” remains a cornerstone of progressive rock.

Built by Tech 21 in collaboration with Geddy Lee, the MP40 expands on his original YYZ Signature SansAmp with additional tonal options and artwork inspired by Moving Pictures. The pedal includes a switchable 12dB boost designed to enhance top-end distortion—ideal for cutting through a mix with the signature edge that defined Lee’s bass tone.

The Charity Edition features identical specs but includes Lee’s autograph and comes in packaging tailored for collectors. It maintains the same performance-focused design while becoming a unique piece of memorabilia.

Reverb: The Exclusive Retailer

As with Lee’s recent signature synth—the Geddy Lee Minimoog Model D from Moog Music—Reverb remains the exclusive North American retailer for this release. The platform has become a trusted partner for limited-run artist gear drops, offering verified sales channels and direct support for charitable campaigns.

This approach ensures both transparency and accessibility for fans and collectors while also maximizing fundraising potential.

Closing the Loop Between Music and Meaning

More than just another signature pedal, the Special Charity Edition of the Tech 21 MP40 ties together Lee’s tone, Peart’s legacy, and causes that matter to both the band and its fanbase.

It’s a rare chance for collectors to acquire a signed, high-quality tool with practical use and a clear story behind it. Each sale supports two places that shaped and supported Neil Peart: the city that raised him, and the hospital that helped him through his final years.

The signed Tech 21 MP40 Charity Edition is available now, exclusively through Reverb, while supplies last.
