Fans of the Aussie-rock band Sick Puppies were in for a shock this morning, when it was announced that founding vocalist and longtime member Shimon Moore will no longer be serving as the band’s front man, after nearly 18 years performing and touring with the group.

Announced via a statement on the band’s official Facebook site, bassist Emma Anzai and drummer Mark Goodwin released the following details:

“Sick Puppies are undergoing some exciting changes and evolving. Former member Shimon Moore is no longer with the band and is pursuing other endeavors. We are currently in the studio writing material for our upcoming studio album while auditioning new singers. As always, there is nothing we enjoy more than creating and performing music for our fans. Our passion and determination to create and share our music is stronger than ever. We cannot wait for Sick Puppiesโ€™ next chapter to unfold and for you all to be part of it.
With respect and appreciation,

Emma & Mark

As of the time of writing this article, Shimon Moore has not made any public comments in regards to his departure from the band, or what his future plans will be going forward. It is uncertain as to whether this departure will delay the band’s upcoming album, or if the writing and recording will go ahead as scheduled, while auditions are held for a new lead vocalist.
