Brick + Mortar – Toms River, NJ (Photo Finish Records)
While I could jokingly remark that the name of Brick+Mortar’s latest EP could double as a descriptor of the character featured on the front cover, Bangs is also a perfect word for the band’s music as this EP truly “bangs”. Described as an “indie-rock drum and bass duo”, Brandon Asraf and John Tacon have crafted rock music that extends behind the boundaries of the rock music genre, taking rock music in a fresh and very welcome direction. The drums hit hard, the bass rumbles heavy, and Brandon’s vocals punch through the mix with beautiful grit and precision. Fans of Imagine Dragons will fall in love this band, but don’t let that comparison fool you…Brick + Mortar are in a league all their own.
