Having relocated from Australia to the U.K., rock band\u00a0Gang Of Youths<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0have redefined their creative process and evolved their sound as they look to make their boldest statement to date.\u00a0Today\u00a0they release\u00a0“the angel of 8th ave.”,\u00a0<\/strong>the first song to come out of that new process.\u00a0\u00a0Click\u00a0\u0437\u0434\u0435\u0441\u044c<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to stream.<\/p>\n

\u201cthe angel of 8th ave.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0is a striking step forward for the band, following the success of the 2017 LP\u00a0<\/strong>Go Farther In Lightness<\/em><\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0as they embark upon the most vital phase of their career so far. This time they\u2019re channelling the musical lineage of their new life in London, drawing on the hypnotic, motorik grooves of Joy Division and the luminous synths that embody classic New Order. It\u2019s an utterly assured evolution of the ambitious, transformative power of music that they have become renowned for.<\/p>\n

The song also represents a shift in\u00a0Dave Le\u2019aupepe\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0lyrical approach. Now his focus falls on exposing the beauty and elegance of conversational language in a song about the grandest of emotions. Simultaneously, it is still both poetic and intensely real. His opening words hone sharply in on a moment that changed the direction of his life, while the spectre of death conversely provides a glimpse of a brighter future.<\/p>\n

He says,\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s about falling in love, and finding a new life in a new city together.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Entirely self-produced, the track was recorded in their own studio, a place which provides them with unlimited creative freedom. It was subsequently mixed by the Grammy Award-winning\u00a0Craig Silvey<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(Arcade Fire, The National).<\/p>\n

\u0420\u0435\u0436\u0438\u0441\u0441\u0435\u0440\u00a0Joel Barney<\/strong><\/a>, the song\u2019s accompanying video was filmed in the band\u2019s neighborhood of Angel, North London. The focal point is a tight close-up of\u00a0Le\u2019aupepe\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0hugely charismatic performance, as the band dart from the bustle of the station to the relative desolation of the canal. Since forming in Sydney, Australia in 2011,\u00a0Gang Of Youths<\/strong>\u00a0have made a big impression with their two albums to date,\u00a0The Positions<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(2015) and\u00a0Go Farther In Lightness<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(2017), the latter of which won four prestigious ARIA Awards, including\u00a0\u0410\u043b\u044c\u0431\u043e\u043c \u0433\u043e\u0434\u0430<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>\u0438\u00a0Best Group.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

When they moved half a world away to London in 2017, they effectively had to start again.
