Radiohead fans rejoice!

After three years of touring and a number of solo projects, the English rock band will be returning to the studio this fall to begin work on their 9th studio album. The news broke on July 12th on Mary Anne Hobbesโ€™ BBC 6Music Show, where she had a chance to interview Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood.

โ€œWeโ€™re going to start up in September, playing, rehearsing and recording and see how itโ€™s sounding.โ€

Greenwood hinted at the possibility of another album after telling Nashville Cream in March that the band would gather at the end of the summer to sort out their plans. While we have no other details regarding the new album or any other new material from the band, this is still quite exciting for Radiohead fans.

The new record would follow up the bandโ€™s 2011 release, The King of Limbs, the bandโ€™s most minimalistic and rhythmically driven album to date. The notably shorter album followed up what might have been discouraging news for some fans from frontman Thom Yorke, who said in an interview with Believer magazine in 2009 that the band had no plans of releasing another long-form album and would instead focus on releasing instantly available singles and shorter EPs. There is no certainty as to whether or not this new album will be another run-of-the-mill LP or if the band intends to try newer, shorter and perhaps instantly downloadable releases. Regardless, new music is coming. Until we have more information, this will most certainly do.
