If you’re a Radiohead fan, you may want to sit down now and collect yourself, because the band’s PolyFauna app has been updated as of this morning, and it features brand new imagery andย new tunes previously unheard from the group. Hinted through a series of tweets from Thom Yorke over the weekend, the music in the update features vocals from Yorkeย and has been speculated by some to be a possible preview of new music the band has been working on as of late.
Released for free via iOS and Android back in February, Radiohead’s experimental PolyFauna app was created in conjunction with Universal Everything, with the idea first being discussed during the band’s 2011 King of Limbs record release.
“It comes from an interest in early computer life-experiments and the imagined creatures of our subconscious,” Yorke said. “Your screen is the window into an evolving world. Move around to look around. You can follow the red dot. You can wear headphones.”
While the latest update does not specifically name the untitled track as music from the band’s next album, Radiohead guitarist ย Jonny Greenwood commentedย to BBC Radio last month that the band was planning to begin workย shortly on new music around September, leading fans to speculate that this could be a preview of what’s to come.
โWeโre going to start up in September, playing, rehearsing and recording and see how itโs sounding.โ – Jonny Greenwood
