Post-hardcore outfit Famous Last Words <\/strong>will be kicking off their North American Summer Tour with Avoir peur<\/strong> tonight in Denver, Colorado at the Marquis Theater, beginning a ten-date trek that will take the band through the West Coast hitting major stops in LA, San Fransisco and Seattle before ending in Portland on July 19th at the Analog Theater.<\/p>\n

The band is touring in support of their most recent release The Incubus (<\/em>produced by Taylor Larson), which the band revealed last year to be a concept album dealing with the issues of rape, sexual assault and domestic abuse. Centered around a character named Christine who is a stay-at-home mother in the 1950’s, The Incubus<\/em> explores Christine’s struggles as she attempts to figure out the source of her blackouts and the cause of the recurring nightmares she experiences.<\/p>\n

This story was first revealed on the album’s lead single “Pretty in Porcelain”<\/strong><\/a>, when around the time of its release the band’s lead vocalist JT Tollas explained, “All of our full-length albums have told stories that tackle extremely difficult situations…The Incubus tackles the issue of sexual and domestic abuse. I felt it was important to step forward and really bring this relentless issue to light.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

The narrative would then be continued on the album’s second single “The Judged”<\/strong><\/a>, a track centering on the courtroom proceedings and the victim’s feelings of self-blame for the assault, a reaction that many rape victims have struggled with in the aftermath of an attack. Despite offering an unflinching look at such a difficult topic, The Incubus<\/em> received positive reviews on many music websites, and praise for its storytelling and handling of the subject matter.<\/p>\n
