REM may not be together anymore, but that’s not stopping them from releasing their third boxed-set of the year entitled\u00a0‘REMTV’.\u00a0 The boxed-set will be a six DVD compilation of concert footage, television appearances, their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction, and award shows all between 1983-2007. The\u00a0DVD’s will also detail the\u00a0band’s relationship\u00a0with MTV, along with a never before seen documentary about the growth of both the band and the music channel over the years. Three out of the six discs have been dedicated to live shows from the mid-nineties to the 2000’s, including two free concerts from 2001 in Cologne and 2008 in Athens, Greece. The two shows contain more than a dozen, previously unaired songs.<\/p>\n
In regards to the\u00a0collection, the band’s manager Bertis Downs stated: “It occurred to us that there’s all this footage of some of the band’s absolute career highlights sitting in some MTV vaults in London and New York and thanks to a lot of effort and digging and arranging, this is our chance to share that music with various generations of R.E.M. fans in a pretty unique release. And Alexander Young’s documentary is a fine way to tell the story of R.E.M. through its various twists and turns, as captured in real time by MTV’s cameras – it has some great funny bits too!”<\/em><\/p>\n Anyone who pre-orders the collection will receive an instant-gratification download of the group’s MTV Sonic <\/em>performance in Milan from 2001. The box set will be released on November 24th, and pre-orders are available via the band’s website<\/a>.
