Especially in an era where the definition of rock music has become a bit <\/span>tambi\u00e9n <\/span><\/i>broad for some, RFA\u2019s distorted, vibrant sound has attracted attention from the average listener as well as major Philly-area radio stations like Radio 104.5 and WXPN. Their latest EP, <\/span>Something New From RFA<\/span><\/i>, showcases a band that\u2019s beginning to reap the rewards of all their hard work. <\/span><\/p>\n

Though <\/span>Something New From RFA<\/span><\/i> is a collection of five fully fledged rock n\u2019 roll tracks, it might have you fooled the upon the first listen. Opening track \u201cSaturday, January 24\u201d is a gentle intro that begins with only vocals and an acoustic guitar. It eventually expands into the full band, but the song\u2019s mellowed out vibe contrasts with the high energy cuts found on the rest of the EP. \u201cSaturday, January 24\u201d continues straight into \u201cI\u2019m Not Telling You\u201d, a breezy track that sounds ready for summer road trips and beach parties. Here, RFA settles into the catchy, effortless style of garage rock that\u2019s become their signature. \u201cWhat\u2019s Your Name\u201d, a fast-moving track propelled by guitars, calls back to <\/span>This Is It-<\/span><\/i>era Strokes<\/strong>; think of tracks like \u201cBarely Legal\u201d<\/a> o \u201cHard to Explain\u201d<\/a> for comparison. \u201cIndigo\u201d is an instant standout of true-blue indie rock, drawing similarities to Catfish & The Bottlemen<\/strong> y The Killers<\/strong>‘ early work. <\/span><\/p>\n
