Sprengelmeyer get her start in the music industry by working as a backing vocalist on <\/span><b>The National<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s 2008 album <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High Violet<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Her debut album, 2011\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/4MLyKcTcjdbBxwOYntMjjm\" target=\"_blank\" data-lasso-id=\"1383\" rel=\"noopener\" data-old-href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/4MLyKcTcjdbBxwOYntMjjm\" data-old-><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Golden Record<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, received a rating of 8.1 from the notoriously critical Pitchfork, and was on the longlist for Canada\u2019s Polaris Prize. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Golden Record<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> saw collaborations from <\/span><b>Arcade Fire<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s Richard Reed Parry, who co-produced the record, as well as his bandmate Sarah Neufeld, The National\u2019s Aaron Dessner, and <\/span><b>Silver Mt. Zion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s Rebecca Foon. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Little Scream - &quot;The Heron and The Fox&quot; (live)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qsCkOn_uXo4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 Five years later, Little Scream is signed to Merge Records (Arcade Fire, <\/span><b>Neutral Milk Hotel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/altwire.net\/es\/bright-eyes-frontman-accused-of-rape\/\">Conor Oberst<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and managed by Zeitgeist (<\/span><b>Taxi de la muerte para Cutie<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Best Coast<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Having just come off tour with fellow Zeitgeist act <\/span><b>Thao &amp; The Get Down Stay Down<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Sprengelmeyer is preparing to release Little Scream\u2019s sophomore album, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cult Following<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, on May 6. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cult Following<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will see Sprengelmeyer working with even more celebrity collaborations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 The 12-track album will include appearances from <\/span><b>Sufjan Stevens<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Aaron and Bryce Dessner (The National), Owen Pallett (Arcade Fire, <\/span><b>Final Fantasy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), <\/span><b>Sharon Van Etten<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Kyp Malone (<\/span><b>TV on the Radio<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), and <\/span><b>Mary Margaret O\u2019 Hara<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Richard Reed Parry is once again credited on the album, this time as Sprengelmeyer\u2019s \u201ccreative partner\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite these all-star guest appearances, Sprengelmeyer holds her own where it matters most: her music. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cult Following <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has seen four singles so far leading up to it\u2019s release next week, and each single explores a different side to Sprengelmeyer\u2019s blend of top 40 pop and her roots in the experimental\/art rock world. First single <em>\u201cLove as a Weapon\u201d<\/em> occupies a space between <\/span><b>Ingrid Michaelson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>St. Vincent<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with a vocal melody and beat so simple and infectious that it\u2019s impossible not to get into it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Little Scream - Love as a Weapon (Official Music Video)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Tq4Vw4MB6eA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/18hp3yeNokBNsstSOjITVK\" target=\"_blank\" data-lasso-id=\"1384\" rel=\"noopener\" data-old-href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/18hp3yeNokBNsstSOjITVK\" data-old->\u201cSomeone Will Notice\u201d<\/a><\/em> is a lush track in the vein of <\/span><b>Broken Social Scene<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that was inspired by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Suicide_of_Amanda_Todd\" data-lasso-id=\"1385\" data-old-href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Suicide_of_Amanda_Todd\" data-old- rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amanda Todd<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the many other victims of depression and bullying.<em> \u201cThe Kissing\u201d<\/em> features Kyp Malone\u2019s guest appearance as well as waves of guitar riffs.\u00a0The fourth and latest single <em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/1oy00LRx3kCkfzKhcl0da1\" target=\"_blank\" data-lasso-id=\"1386\" rel=\"noopener\" data-old-href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/1oy00LRx3kCkfzKhcl0da1\" data-old->\u201cDark Dance\u201d<\/a><\/em> is a glistening effort that manages to marry the pop sensibility of \u201cLove as a Weapon\u201d with the lo-fi vibe of <em>\u201cSomeone Will Notice\u201d<\/em>. The big names attached to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cult Following <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Little Scream will give Sprengelmeyer\u2019s project the attention it deserves, but her achievements and talent are enough to turn her into the next mainstream crossover. <\/span><br \/>\n<i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Little Scream\u2019s next album,<\/span><\/i><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Cult Following<\/span><\/em><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, will be released on May 6.
