Former Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour will be featured in a 14-track cover album to be released by Mojo Magazine with their October 2015 issue. The album, simply entitled David Gilmour and Friends<\/em>, also includes guest appearances by A Momentary Lapse of Reason, On an<\/i> Island<\/em> <\/i>and\u00a0The Endless River<\/em> collaborator Phil Manzanera, famed guitarist David Crosby, British singer-songwriter Graham Nash and electronic duo The Orb of Metallic Spheres<\/em> fame, among other artists.<\/p>\n

David Gilmour’s featured contribution to the album, an atmospheric rendition of The Beatles’ “Here, There and Everywhere”, from their 1966 album Revolver<\/em>, was recorded with his son Joe Gilmour two years previously, according to Mojo Magazine<\/a>. Gilmour cited The Beatles as a major influence in his work and had stated in an interview with Mojo that “[They] taught me how to play guitar, I learnt everything. The bass parts, the lead, the rhythm, everything.” David Gilmour and Friends <\/em>was created as a tribute to the long-time musician, described by Mojo as “[a] collection of music designed to celebrate the Pink Floyd leader\u2019s life, work and influence.”<\/p>\n

The promotional CD comes a month before the release of Gilmour’s long-anticipated fourth studio album, Rattle That Lock; <\/em>his first solo album since 2006’s On an Island<\/em>. Rattle That Lock<\/em> is set to be released on September 18 by Columbia Records. You can watch an animated music video for the album’s title track below:<\/p>\n
