New band and brainchild of ex-I Am King vocalist Sam Sky, Vicious, have released an aggressive new track, S.O.O, with its provocative lyrics and video S.O.O is one of the best songs Iโve heard all year purely for its honesty and intensity.ย As 2017 draws to a close Iโm sure many of you will with me when I say it been quite a shit year, Iโve lost count of the amount of times Iโve seen the news and it was just shocking ย that somethingย so wrong could happen in the day and age. Luckily Vicious sum up the state of worlds right now perfectly with impactful lyrics like: โAm I losing my mind, or are we racing back through time?โ S.O.O will be fast becoming anthem of the year in the minds of all who hear it and understand its message.
However itโs unfair to pigeonhole Vicious as nothing more than a doom & gloom protest band, when in reality the explosive defiance on display in their music is a sign of hope, down to the fact that they arenโt afraid to say what needs to be said even when people donโt want to hear it. And in an age when a lot of songs are artificial and meaningless, itโs reassuring that there are still some musicians willing to fight back and call out the bullshit.ย S.O.O is a brilliant example of the kind of hard hitting, balls to the wall metal thatโs been in decline for the last few years, and now we need it more than ever.
The forceful guitars and powerful base are supplied by Dan Artim, AJ Larsen y Chris Arcand; they provide the ideal backing to Sam Skyโs vocals which switch faultlessly from ear-splitting to melodic. I genuinely canโt wait for them to follow this piece of hardcore gold up with an album, so if youโre already bored of the Christmas tunes, then give S.O.O a spin, you wonโt regret it.
Hereโs to the impending new year, hopefully things will get better, but to quote Sky, only one thing is for certain โshitโs gotta fucking change.โ
