Australian based Alternative-Pop producer PJ Wolf (known by his stage name “Thief”) has released a unique minimalist electro re-interpretation of Justin Timberlake’s 2002 smash R&B hit “Cry Me A River”.
Removing the thumping bass drums and beatboxed backing vocals of the Timberland produced original, Thief’s interpretation of the track strips down the song to it’s purest form elevating PJ’s vocals to the forefront as he croons over the song’s simple bass line and hand claps, leading effortlessly into the brass filled punchy choruses.
Winner of Triple J’s ‘Unearthed Top Song’ competition, Thief is due to release his debut EP Closer on May 12th via Rabble Records. Check out “Cry Me A River” below:
