Dave Grohl, charismatic frontrunner of the Foo Fighters<\/a> has announced that the band\u2019s highly anticipated eighth studio album will be released this upcoming fall. In an earlier statement, the band had told us that their new album was going to be recorded \u201cin a way no one has ever done before\u201d.\u00a0 And boy isn\u2019t that the truth.\u00a0 As it turns out, the still untitled album has been recorded in a total of eight different studios in eight different cities throughout the United States.\u00a0 One song was recorded per studio and, in a delightful cultural twist, each track will feature a \u201clocal legend\u201d as a guest artist.<\/p>\n

That alone would have been enough to make all fans of rock music interested, but it’s not enough for the Foos! Along with the album announcement it was also revealed that HBO will air an eight part documentary series of the albums recording as directed by Dave Grohl.\u00a0 Sounds like these guys have a thing for the power of eight! The series will be similar to Grohl’s Sound City documentary <\/a>and will feature interviews with local musicians while exploring the music scene and delving into “how the region shaped the musicians in their formative years” alongside behind the scenes footage of the studio process for the new album. \u00a0The show is scheduled to air on HBO this winter, with the first episode premiering on the eve of the band\u2019s 20th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The new album will be the follow-up to the Foo Fighters\u2019 2011’s success Wasting Light<\/em> which won the band a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.\u00a0 More information is said to be revealed in the following weeks.<\/p>\n
