The video for \u201cAbove\u201d premiered on the band\u2019s official YouTube channel yesterday. Directed by Lasse Martinussen, \u201cAbove\u201d\u2019s new video features a diverse supporting cast of professional MMA fighters shown alongside the lead singer Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen and Reptile Youth bassist Esben Vall\u00f8e. Both a tense and dramatic short film, &#8220;Above&#8221; was created as a means of portraying Lasse Martinussen&#8217;s feelings about the band&#8217;s live performances:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe video is the result of my very first confrontation with the band years ago where I witnessed one of their early shows. I had heard about their crazy shows in China just before the show so they already had this strange, almost ancient, mythology around them. The lead singer was beyond performing; almost sacrificing himself to his biggest belief, while the bassist was hypnotizing through the music. It was something I had never experienced before, something tremendous, sexy, epic, violent and something I had to pursue. I tried to do with the video, what the performance did to me that night.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Reptile Youth - Above\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YeBh3esEFBA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Above&#8221; is\u00a0 Reptile Youth&#8217;s latest single, and is taken from the band&#8217;s sophomore record Rivers That Run For A Sea That Is Gone.
