From the release of debut 2017 EP,\u00a0<em>Codine<\/em>, to the recent 2018 worldwide tour supporting multiple Grammy nominated rock act,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/altwire.net\/de\/concert-review-highly-suspect-01-30-2018\/\">H\u00f6chst verd\u00e4chtig<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Welles<\/strong>\u2019 exposure to a wider audience is well and truly underway. And to be completely honest, it\u2019s for pretty good reason too.<\/p>\n<p>Wenn\u00a0<strong>Welles<\/strong>\u00a0is anything, sole member\u00a0<strong>Jeh Sea Wells<\/strong>\u00a0is the kind of artist who embraces all influences, and throws them wholeheartedly into his creative endeavors, and\u00a0<strong>Welles<\/strong>\u00a0is absolutely no exception to this rule. Debut EP,\u00a0<em>Codine,<\/em>\u00a0and recent live performances, have displayed a project entirely dedicated to the classic rock and grunge energy of the 90s, with\u00a0<strong>Jeh Sea<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Wells\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>vocal style eerily similar to the likes of\u00a0<strong>Kurt Cobain<\/strong>, crooning away over massive overdriven riffs and blistering guitar harmonies during tracks \u2018Codine\u2019, and \u2018Into Ashes\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Lyrically, much of\u00a0<strong>Welles<\/strong>\u2019 material enhances itself through simple, yet effective ideas, such as the repeated \u2018Into Ashes\u2019 chorus line,\u00a0<em>\u201cdo you know what I\u2019ve done?\u201d\u00a0<\/em>The EP\u2019s middle act, \u2018Hold Me Like I\u2019m Leaving\u2019, offers another prime example of all elements working together in infectious harmony, a fuzz driven guitar lead wailing under\u00a0<strong>Jeh Sea<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Wells\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0increasingly more exasperated howls of\u00a0<em>\u201chold me like I\u2019m leavin\u2019 \u2018cause I feel it come a creepin\u2019 again\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With a recent strong resurgence regarding rock music popularity, successful garage rock act <strong>K\u00f6nigliches Blut<\/strong>\u00a0and the aforementioned\u00a0<strong>H\u00f6chst verd\u00e4chtig\u00a0<\/strong>being prime examples of new blood entering an ever-changing, classic genre, the last few years have certainly been an exciting time to keep an eye out for fantastic new talent in the rock scene.
