In the midst of an ongoing war in their homeland of Ukraine, metalcore unit SPACE OF VARIATIONS today announced that they will be delaying the release of their upcoming album, IMAGO.
The album, which was originally due out on March 18th, features the already-released singles โvein.mp3โ and โSOMEONE ELSEโ. Ukraine has been in a state of armed conflict since February 24, when Vladimir Putin ordered Russian troops to invade Ukraine unprovoked, plunging the nation into war. Around the world, leaders and citizens alike have spoken out against Putin’s actions, which are being met with harsh international sanctions and military financial assistance to Ukraine.
Discussing the decision to postpone the album, Space of Variations said the following:
โAs we sit here waiting for things to โget betterโ here at home, we have come to the sad decision that we must move our new album release date to May 2022. We just cannot focus on our music while war is being waged on the streets of Ukraineโฆ we are praying that this terrible and horrifying situation will be over very soon so we can get back to our normal lives. Just know that we have read your messages and that alone gives us the strength to carry on! Until then โ keep on listening and supporting us and other Ukrainian bands, it’s never been more important than it is now!โ
